School Shootings

What do you think? There was 33 people killed in a school shooting in virginia USA this week, all my school has been doing is trying to be more secure, what do you think?

i think the us shood go the same way as the uk and ban hand guns. i think its terrible, and i feel awful for saying this, but the us has known the risk of the gun for years and this bullshit" we're a hunting nation" is bollox, the uk has something like 63 gun related deaths a year where as the us has nearl 13,000

unfortunately it (probably) won't happen. guns are as engrained in this culture as crass taste, sycophantic ignorance and fast food.

the thing with the States though is that violence runs so deep that even if guns were banned, there'd be a huge rise in, say, bombings. in my opinion.

I thought there were 35... I remember one died later of injuries in the hospital and the shooter killed himself. they released a video not long ago that he sent himself to nbc or some news station like that, along with pictures of himself with weapons, mostly guns. parts of it are on youtube right now... he made videos before and after murdering two people in the dorm, blaming it on the rich kids for letting it go this far... something about backing him into the corner, leaving him with only one option, doing it for his children...
It was really sad... I was shocked when I first heard about it. was definitely an emotion-related crime, too. He was urged to get help... he was wrong, he had more than one option... he just felt that way. I only hope there are less of these crimes and that no one has to feel like they need to kill the world to have peace for themselves like that

you know i would in a heart beat ! but it's a little hard to tell my parents that i want to go to live in the U.K. when i'm only 16 years old, maybe when i'm out of highschool! bollox, what other words are there?

Yeah. Problem is, it's currently the most powerful nation in the world. Also, banning guns would imply having to change the American Constitution which states that every person is allowed to be armed. So, all in all, they're just asking for it themselves. I'm glad I live in Belgium, worst thing that recently happened here was a racist shooting. Hans van Temsche shot some random people out on the street, worst of all was ther was a little girl among them (i think she was 4). Now that's awful, but also very rare here. A school shooting or such has just never happened here. Guns just aren't very common, but like anywhere else you can get one if you really want.
